The idea of working walls have been with us for a long time, to enable children to physically see the journey that their learning has taken. Working walls are a great way to engage children with their learning and allows teaching to evolve during a unit of work.
In our class we have been experimenting with using a "digital working wall" using a spare projector and a blank wall space, the projector is connected to a laptop that is permanently displaying a working wall I have created on www.padlet.com.
Our tablets have a bookmark to this page on the home page allowing the children to quickly access our wall from their tablet whenever they need to, by doing this not only can the children see the working wall displayed in our classroom but they can interact with the content, to select items they feel to be useful during the lesson. Another great feature of this setup is the ability for the children to add their own content from text to pictures which is instantly added to the working wall in real time. If I see a good example of a child's work I can just ask them to take a photo with their tablet and add it to the working wall themselves. The class love it and it is proving to be a very powerful day to day tool! If you would like to see examples of it's uses please feel free to contact me!
